About the Event
Doctor Emeritus makes their debut at Liberty Mountain on Saturday, October 1st at 7 PM!
In 2017, Dr. Emeritus began performing at events across Michigan, including festivals, clubs, and private events. Their varied psychedelic music has an early 1970s underground vibe and Dr. Emeritus created the term "lounge-punk".
Their debut album, Terrible News, explores the idea of lounge-punk from high energy rock to slow churning rhythms.
Dr. Emeritus are devoted musicians that prefer a more open improvisational style to their live performances. They strive to never play a song the same way twice. Along with Jake and J.R. Knott, who are brothers and co-founders, they also include Sean Roberts, Mic Stankiewicz, and Cody Pung. J.R., a songwriter, is an Atlanta Institute of Music alum.
Cody Pung, who is regarded by his contemporaries as one of Michigan's most varied and eccentric artists, has had a significant impact on the band's recent psychedelic turn. Jake Knott, the top hat-wearing singer for Dr. Emeritus, infuses the music with the rockabilly style and theatrics of a traveling medical show. To create the low-end groove for the band, Mic Stankiewicz and Sean Roberts on and bass combine elements of funk, jazz, punk, and heavy metal.
Dr. Emeritus has appeared on the radio program Michigan Made and performed on stage alongside emerging groups like The Accidentals. The group is also aiming to broaden its influence and expose the globe to its music.
Enjoy this beautiful autumn weather, cold beer and great music at the Mountain!
